UMI Arts Big Talk One Fire Indigenous Cultural Festival is UMI Arts' annual signature event, held at Fogarty Park, on the sunny Cairns Esplanade. Big Talk One Fire is a free, family-friendly event that brings together a concert with headlining and supporting local Indigenous bands, traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dance, and pop-up Indigenous market stalls. This event aims to showcase and promote the best of Far North Queensland cultures to a large and varied audience.

The inaugural Big Talk One Fire Indigenous Cultural Festival took place in 2009 at the Cairns Civic Theatre as a cultural celebration held over several days. Since then, this event has grown to such extent that it is now a cultural celebration event of its own, held in a large, public venue to accommodate a rapidly increasing crowd.

The 2017 Big Talk One Fire Indigenous Cultural Festival is delivered in partnership with the Australia Council for the Arts, Arts Queensland, Department Premier and Cabinet, Department of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships Queensland and the Cairns Regional Council.
